The students enrolled in Would I Lie to You? were thrilled to be visited by the renowned West Australian author Mark Greenwood. Described as a ‘history hustler’, Mark enjoys investigating tall tales, solving mysteries, searching for lost explorers and embarking on quests to locate glittering treasures.
He encouraged the students to dive down the rabbit hole of research to produce their own ‘faction’ – a mixture of fact and fiction which is evident in all of his books, including The Legend of Moondyne Joe, The Last Tiger and The Greatest Liar on Earth.
As Mark span yarn after yarn, the students became increasingly engrossed as they tried to discern the truth from the layers of embellishment. Was Mark telling the truth? Was he lying? The students were left to ponder, pontificate and cogitate as Mark bid them adieu, leaving behind him more questions than answers.
