Round Three 2017   4 Sep - 24 Nov
Ideas Worth Spreading: An Exciting Opportunity for Year 5 PEAC students only TED is a global organisation committed to the spreading of ideas, usually through small, powerful talks. TED-Ed Clubs are offered throughout the world with the intention of giving younger people the opportunity to share their ideas with others around the globe. In 2014, NMER PEAC ran a TED-Ed Club as a PEAC course. The course was so successful that one of our students was invited to deliver the TED style Talk that he developed on the TED stage in New York. You can watch his presentation here. In 2017, we are changing the format. This year, an opportunity to join our TED-Ed Club will be offered as an additional option for students on top of their PEAC Course. This means that you will have an opportunity to be part of the club as well as taking part in any other PEAC course of your choice. So who might want to be part of the club? Year 5 PEAC students who are passionate. Students who have something to say. Thinkers and doers. Explorers and innovators. You might be the talkative kid who can’t stay seated, or you might be the quiet kid in the back of the room. TED-Ed Clubs create a welcoming, inclusive environment where everyone is invited to discover and learn, and in which everyone’s ideas are shared and celebrated. What will you do as a club member? In TED-Ed Clubs, students work together to discuss and celebrate creative ideas. They discover and delve into their own passions. In a TED-Ed Club, you discover and explore great ideas with new (or old) friends. You’ll research and develop your ideas worth sharing and learn how to present your ideas to the world in the form of TED-style talks. You will also get the opportunity to learn how to animate your ideas, and to gain skills in storytelling/storyboarding, production (camera/lighting/sound) and create visuals that communicate your ideas clearly. The PEAC TED-Ed Club’s aim will be to also develop strong community links in order for you to make a real difference in the world that you live in. How can your ideas change the world? TED-Ed Clubs help you to claim your voice, share your ideas and participate in a global conversation. Discover the TED-Ed Club talk that only YOU can give. When and Where? For Round Three, the PEAC TED-Ed Club will be held weekly at the Creaney Centre on Tuesdays after school from 3:15pm – 5:15pm, beginning September 5th.
The world is waiting to be redefined by the biggest, smallest, boldest, quirkiest, bravest, most inspiring and most brilliant ideas from young people around the world. Are you one of them?
